HTC Inspire 4G Review The
HTC Inspire 4G is another remarkable piece of hardware coming from HTC. Getting design and style cues from the HD2, HD7 and other newly released mobile phones, the Inspire 4G is a superb mix of steel, plastics and glass. The feel of the lightweight aluminum shell is first-rate, and the overall weight and experience of the Inspire 4G are great.
HTC hasn't strayed too far with its design language in recent times. Its high-end devices all keep a substantial family resemblance, and the Inspire 4G doesn't break this mold. Naturally, given the huge 4.3-inch display, the phone is quite large and in truth might be too large for some.
The controls are common to HTC hardware. The volume toggle is on the left side, and is a trim line that runs up the side of the phone. It offers good travel and feedback. There are no control keys on the right side, and disappointingly that will mean no dedicated camera button. You will have to resort to the screen for taking photos. A particular strange design choice, HTC placed the 3.5mm headset jack on the bottom of the phone. I much prefer it to be on the top, that usually allows users to stop incoming calls with the phone in their pocket. The microusb port is also on the bottom of the phone. The single button on top is the power/lock key. It provides good travel and feedback and is positioned nicely.
There are four capacitive keys on the bottom of the display. I prefer capacitive buttons to actual physical ones, but not everyone feels that way.
Whether or not you intend to define AT&T's HSPA+ network as 4G, the HTC Inspire 4G may be the very first cell phone for AT&T to carry the "4G" designation. Even without the 4G moniker, the HTC Inspire 4G is an inspiring device for Android lovers.
